GREAT LAKES GEEK FEST Presents GREAT LAKES WRESTLE FEST 2021!

After spending summer 2020 in lockdown and bored out of your mind, summer-o-fun 2021 is finally here! It is time to get out and have a blast with family and friends. Now you could do the same old same old…cookouts…bike rides…yadda yadda yadda…how boring. Or you could seek out some new and unusual opportunities for entertainment this summer. One such event is brought to us by Great Lakes Geek Fest when they host their first ever Great Lakes Wrestle Fest featuring Absolute Intense Wrestling on July 31st at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds.

What’s it all about? Well we had a chance to talk to the good folks at Great Lakes Geek Fest and here is what they had to say…..

Can you tell us a little about Great Lakes Geek Fest?

Great Lakes Geek Fest: We’re local business owners, friends, and geeks. We love pop culture, toys, games, comics, anime, etc. There was a local convention that took place annually (Northeast Geek Expo) at it’s height drew almost 2,000 people. It unfortunately disbanded and we wanted to carry on the tradition. Our mission is to provide the Ashtabula County & surrounding area geeks a place to celebrate what they geek out on every year.

How did you decide to go with hosting a wrestling event?

GLGF: 3 out of 4 of us are wrestling fans and it kind of just happened. We had an organizational meeting for our next event and this was the result of that meeting. None of us saw it coming!

Who is competing at the event?

GLGF: Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW) out of Cleveland. We are waiting for their list of matches.

Besides wrestling, what else can ticket holders expect?

GLGF: We have a list of food trucks coming to sell some refreshments. We also have a list of vendors growing every day to provide people with the opportunity to purchase items they want. We have a local band named Rough Cut who will be playing inside the ring before the wrestling starts. We have Charles Wright (WWE hall of famer, better known as Papa Shango or The Godfather) signing autographs before the wrestling begins.

Do you have any other future events in the works that you would like to mention?

GLGF: We have an annual convention we do every year called The Great Lakes Geek Fest. We plan on doing more events like this Wrestle Fest to keep things going on in Ashtabula County.

Stay tuned for more info on all that!

A few more things to mention….

Food trucks include Smash Adams, Kona Ice, The Hawaiian Guy BBQ, and Sloppy Toppy. Also local restaurant Fire Chicken Sandwiches will be serving up some goodies.

The ring will be outside in front of the grandstands at the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds. The ring will also be surrounded by VIP chairs for those who want an up close and personal experience.

Tickets are $5 kids, $25 adults, and $50 VIP, and can be purchased HERE

So there you have it… music, food, geeks, wrestling, and fun. Right now tickets are still available, so pick some up, then grab your friends, your kids, heck, even your grandma (you know she wants to see some muscly men duke it out), and get to the Ashtabula County Fairgrounds for Great Lakes Wrestle Fest 2021!
