Legendary singer, songwriter and guitarist, BILL CHAMPLIN Welcomes Us To 2021 With Some New Music!
Perhaps the best thing to come out of what was a horrific year for the music industry is the fact that all musicians had the time to do what allow them to do what they love to do. That of course is writing music.
With so much down town and no touring it gave those involved in the writing aspect of the biz ample time to release their creative juices.Such was the case for legendary singer, songwriter and guitarist, BILL CHAMPLIN.
If the name sounds familiar it should, he is a former member of the Hall of Fame band, Chicago, as well as a Grammy award winner who helped pin the hits “After The Love Has Gone” (Earth, Wind & Fire) and “Turn Your Love Around” (George Benson). Champlin recently signed a record deal with Imagen Records and released the first single, “Reason To Believe,” from the new album entitled ‘Livin For Love’ on New Year’s Day. The whole compilation will be available a little later in the year.
Being in the business for over 50 years, Champlin has experienced it all. Beginning in high school with The Opposite Six, a band that later became Sons of Champlin, the 73 year old veteran joined Chicago in 1981. Three years later he performed lead vocals on the hits “Hard Habit to Break” and “Look Away”. Four year later he fronted the tune “I Don’t Want to Live Without Your Love”. Champlin and Chicago parted ways in 2009 after many other successful hits.
Following his tenure with Chicago he did a lot of solo things before forming the band, Bill Champlin and the Wunderground, in 2018. Joining Champlin in the group are a foursome that has worked with some of the greatest artist in rock-and-roll. Among those are his spouse an accomplished writer herself, Tamara Champlin (singer), Ambrosia founder, Burleigh Drummond (drums), Bill Bodine (bass) and Mary Harris (keyboardist, singer). Now Champlin has come full circle and is back with an amazing compilation of songs that is sure to give delight to his longtime fans and no doubt, win the hearts of new ones.
Check out the first single from the album as well as my interview with the man himself. Until next time this is Big L saying ‘keep those horns up and rock on!! \m/ \m/
