THE GLORIOUS SONS Shined Their Light in Ohio
It was a chilly night that had dipped well below freezing in Columbus (OH). That did not stop fans of The Glorious Sons from lining up early to get the best spots available inside The Newport Music Hall. With a line that wrapped around the block, there was a ton of anticipation in the cold air along High Street.
Presented by 99.7 The Blitz – the word was out, and the crowd size reflected that. With a solid following – some fans travel great distances, following the band from stop-to-stop.
That following has gained plenty of fans due to the latest release, A War On Everything.
The Glorious Sons have really cemented their sound and style on A War On Everything. An absolute masterpiece is actually what it is – from front to back. The timeless sound that is projected is welcomed, and it translated well into their live performance. They particularly shine on the musical melodies that allow vocalist Brett Emmons to shine.
The Show
Their performance only heightened the energy of their music allowing their hour plus set to feature everything that is The Glorious Sons.
Starting out the night with their breakout 2018 hit S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun), their latest single Panic Attack, Kick Them Wicked Things, and Mama, they grabbed the crowd’s attention from the start and did not let up, or disappoint.

When Brett would back off from the microphone, it opened up the opportunity for the audience to sing along. This paid off throughout the evening and the fans seemed to know every word to every song.
Their straightforward performance was in line with their music, and continued the theme of being directly in contact with their crowd. Even the stage production was well run, helping round out the presentaion, and at times directly support what was happening on stage. The lighting was particularly powerful on One Church Town and Pink Motel, as it mirrored the sentiments of the songs.

The Glorious Sons made their statement using their music. The way it should be. Use your craft to create art as great as this and then have the guts to show everyone in attendance what you are all about.
If you like even one song from The Glorious Sons, do yourself a favor – listen to more of their music and then attend a show. You will be pleasantly reminded of what rock music should be – a clean un-muddled performance featuring talented musicians that work together for the greater good of song, performance, and feeling.
