Texas Hippie Coalition Tour with special guest Gravel and SevenStones was a definite success. The trio of bands had help from Columbus local staples, 8 LB Pressure and Waragon!!

I have said it before and I will say it again, Texas Hippie Coalition is my favorite band and if you are unaware of them, then you had better recognize! The self-proclaimed Band of Outlaws are one of the hardest working bands around. THC are constantly touring, and it does not matter how many times that you see a show, they keep it interesting and fun for their fans, known as The Coalition.

THC recently released their seventh album entitled “The Name Lives On” is (IMO) their best work yet. The album shows the versatility of front man, Big Dad Ritch (Anderson) has. “The Name Lives On”, is full of that red-dirt rock, which the band has become anonymous for. But it also shows Big Dad’s ability of producing music that has AC/DC-like vibes as well as a heavy sound that melts the Coalition’s faces. There are plenty of amazing guitar riffs from the youthful duo of Cord ‘Getcha Pull’ Pool and Nevada Romo as well as a locomotive-like power delivered from the rhythm section of Laredo Romo (bass) and Joey Mandigo (drums).

“The Name Lives On” attacked the charts, soaring to #2, trailing only “72 Seasons”, the latest from a little-known band called Metallica. If you have yet to hear the 11-song masterpiece, you owe it to yourself to do so.

I have lost count of how many times I have seen the five-piece ensemble, and frankly it does not matter to me how many times I see them. I consider them and the rest of The Coalition family! Each time that I see a show, I meet new people from all walks of life. The band also treats everyone as if they are family, including the bands that tour with them.

THC’s latest tour saw them traveling with Gravel, a four-piece band from Colorado Springs, Colorado. They, like THC, deliver a full-fledged, hard-hitting in your face sound. They currently have their single “All I Want” climbing the charts. The single has reached #26 on the SMR Top 50 for Active/Mainstream Rock Radio. They were part of two portions of the THC tour and will continue to travel the great United States in pursuit of making new fans.

Call your radio station today and request “All I Want”. Gravel consists of Troy Kammerdiener (front man and rhythm guitarist), Joe Vallejos (lead guitar), Patrick Haling (bassist) and Philippe Franco.

SevenStones, a member of Pavement Entertainment’s artist partnership, joined the tour for just under a month-long journey. It didn’t take long for this Chattanooga, Tennessee bunch, to make new fans and raise their awareness as an up-and-coming force to be reckoned with. I highly recommend that you stream their latest album ‘Hurt Turns Into Hate’ and check out this four-piece powerhouse, that played the 2021 Blue Ridge Rock Fest.

Front man and rhythm guitarist, Drew Elliott, has a tremendous voice that has a wide range. His screaming vocals can stand next to anyone in the industry today. Isaiah McDaniel handles the six-string with a mastery that is second to none while the rhythm section of Richy Aycock (bassist) and Kenny Kerr (drums) pack a Mike Tyson-like powerful punch that will shake you to your core.

I traveled to ‘The King of Clubs’ in Columbus and ‘The Winchester Music Club’ in Lakewood to watch those two stops and I was not disappointed on either occasion.

Columbus’ stop also featured local favorites 8 lb. Pressure and Waragon. I missed Waragon due to being stranded in the line outside the venue, but I was still able to hear part of their set and it appeared to be a hit with the growing crowd. By the sounds on the outside of the building., they put on a great performance.

8 LB Pressure has long been a fan favorite of the Columbus music scene because of their crisp delivery of a heavy sound. Brandon Seymore serves as the bands frontman and is as professional as they come. He unloads a vocal sound that fills the fans’ earholes full of pleasure. Guitar duo, Roman Martinez, and Blake Darling are great together as are the rhythmic tandem of Rob Mutchler (bass) and Brian Kuhn (drums).

They have recently been working hard on a new album that should be released in the fall sometime. Make sure to check out Rock Lines Magazine for the album’s release announcement.

Although The King of Clubs and The Winchester Music Club vary in size, there was still an amazing buzz throughout both during the separate performances. If you are near either venue, make sure to buy a ticket to take in a show. You won’t be disappointed in either case.

Enjoy the combination photo gallery below which includes photos from both venues. Until next time this is Big L saying ‘keep those horns up and rock on!! \m/ \m/
